Getting Started – The First Step
- Please read this entire page first and you will have an understanding about the process and then you may even have some more ideas to improve on your original design idea.
- After reading this entire page we then advise talking to Wayne at ‘The Art of Stickers’ firstly with some details of what type of project you require e.g. a Sticker, Lasercutting, Engraving, Commercial or Large Format Print and then what you are hoping to achieve, what artwork you have or don’t have and he will then contact us with your details.
- Next – we will contact you and arrange a time so that we can ask a few questions about the design you need, the more you can tell us the better. If you have some sketches even better.
What does a Graphic Designer do?
PG Designs
A Graphic Designer is able to manipulate form (objects, icons, colours, textures) on a computer in order to create messages that are effective in communicating visually using Vector based Images or Photoshop for certain features.
They choose Colours strategically which ultimately will serve to maximise the effect of the end result.
A Designer can also place cut lines on artwork for stickers etc before it goes for final processing.
Graphic Designers produce smart creative solutions that address a client’s individual needs with the end result being visually appealing with attention to detail.
The Artwork
Designs for Stickers, Lasercutting, Engraving or Large Format Print, each of these must have accurate sharp clear lines for the computer to recognise at “The Art of Stickers” which will be processing and cutting out your design. We at PG Designs can do this for you.
Images for Print, Laser or Engrave, have a far better detail quality if they are a Vector Graphic type of Image, so we use a professional computer program to produce a Vector Graphic file that has the type of advantages needed to complete your project.
Advantages of a Vector File
- Your computer Vector image file will have an “infinite” resolution which means it can be viewed at any size and it won’t pixelate but will remain with a high quality resolution which is an extremely important factor for a quality Printed item, Engraving or Lasercutting.
- Your image file will also be scalable to any size whether it’s for a tall building or a matchbox size or even smaller sticker.
The final Vector file isn’t finished until it has a cut line measurement placed on it for accurate cutting out of Stickers etc which PG Designs can also apply.
Now your computer Vector Graphic file is suitable for printing any of the following:-

- Lasercutting
- Engraving
- Large format print
- Signage for any Commercial use e.g. Vehicles

Photos
Do you have a photo which you’d like to include in your design for your project for example on the side of a commercial vehicle, a Large format sign or other but you’d like to change some of the content for instance – change the colour of it or you might want to delete ‘some’ of the content in the photo e.g. people or background which will then centre more attention on the subject. We can also correct some blemishes on your photo.
If You Are Thinking Of Including A Photo In Your Design
Provided it is of suitable quality and even if it isn’t sometimes there are other ways and means of including a low quality image in your design if there is no other image available.
Another service we offer is that we can also take photos for you for your project e.g. you might want your workshop or yourself portrayed on the side of your commercial vehicle – as a mobile billboard for advertising.

Motorsport
Motorsport Clubs are a hive of activity with Events. Sponsored Events and Competitors need promotional stickers and signage year round so getting in early will avoid the rush.
No matter whether you’re a professional racer or an amateur racer Stickers have long been part of racing. You may have an historically important car that needs a matching original sticker so whether it’s keeping your sponsors happy, or you just want your car to look great in customised racing signage. PG Designs are involved also in Motor racing and so have an understanding of the game
The Finished Design Artwork
Once the PDF is finished it must have the cut line measurements applied to it using the same computer program again at PG Designs to enable the accurate cutting out of the Stickers etc., a final check and it is ready to send to “The Art of Stickers” for the final processing of your project!
