Our good neighbour ZCAR Racing who is the distributor for Hankook Competition Tyres came to us because they needed trophies for the Gallangowan Anniversary Rally held on June 1st. They wanted unique trophies and not off the shelf boring type trophies, they also wanted to use their sheep mascot.
We came up with the solution to print the design, apply to 10mm clear acrylic and laser cut following the contour of the design. We received the sheep artwork as a low resolution JPEG image which isn’t suitable for the process we use, we converted the sheep artwork by redrawing in a vector based program which means that the artwork can now be scaled to any size without any loss of clarity (theoretically it can be scaled to the size of the universe without absolutely no loss of clarity, I’m sure our friends in New Zealand would like sheep that size :)).
Once the artwork was done, we printed the designs in reverse onto clear vinyl and applied white vinyl over the top of the print to enhance the colours, we applied the vinyl to the back of 10mm clear acrylic and laser cut the designs to the shape required. We cut the bases and glued them to the bodies creating a unique and very presentable trophy.
