These pictures show corflute signage with digitally printed vinyl applied to them. AAA Custom Trolleys in Browns Plains, QLD required these signs for a trade show they will be attending. Using high quality vector artwork created in Adobe Illustrator, it was printed onto 3M white adhesive vinyl then laminated with 3M clear vinyl and mounted onto 5mm white corflute. With the high end printing process we use, our printers can capture the most complex detail in artwork making signs and stickers pop right out from the material it is printed onto and display as the artist intended.
Corflute is a lightweight and easily transportable material but is also rigid which creates an appealing portable sign that will last for years with care. We can make corflute signs up to 2400mm x 1200mm and use full colour graphics or simple vinyl lettering and graphics for a cheaper sign. Corflute signs can be used for the signage of a small street/market vendor up to big displays for events where signage needs to be quickly installed and uninstalled. These days with modern print technology, the printing process is relatively easy. What’s complicated is the artwork from which to print from. Poorly constructed and low quality artwork severely affects the visual quality and impact of a print, no matter how good a print machine is, it really comes down to quality of artwork.
Print works visually much the same as a computer screen, if you’ve ever seen a picture that is pixelated on a computer monitor it means that the picture is too large for the amount of information it contains, it’s just making do with what it’s got and ‘stretching’ pixels to fit the size require.
All digital artwork and pictures are made up from information /data, if there isn’t enough information for the desired print or display result, then it will look low quality.
We avoid printing any low quality artwork as it is visually unappealing and makes an otherwise good quality product look cheap.
We strongly recommend vector graphics/artwork to be used wherever possible. Vector graphics are constructed in computer programs such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw, there are also many other programs that do the same job. Vector artwork is made up from lines and nodes, a line is drawn between two nodes and is either straight or curved, a series of nodes and lines continue to create a path and a series of paths will complete a drawing. Unlike pixel based artwork/pictures (artwork created in a program like Adobe Photoshop or pictures taken with a digital camera) , vector artwork can be scaled to any size without any loss of clarity. It will always have smooth lines and solid consistent fills with colours.
Vector based computer programs are getting more complicated as computers increase in power and depending on the skill of a graphic artist some vector based drawings look like they were taken with a camera. Digital printing technology is also advancing and the print from well constructed vector artwork and high end digital cameras is truly amazing.

This picture shows an example of what can be done with the combination of digital full colour printing and vinyl cutting (Please note that it is shown here on it’s backing paper, the sticker will have application tape applied over the top so the individual letters can be applied as one to the surface it will be applied to), it also shows what can be done combining bitmaps images and scalable vector based lettering and graphics (lettering and graphics that can be scaled to any size without any loss of clarity) . To create this sticker we placed the text (scalable vector graphics) over a JPEG (bitmap) image, and masked it which creates a line over the JPEG image so our print and cut machines know exactly where to cut the vinyl. Our Customer, FAB Dock Pty Ltd required posters for a-frame type signs that they will be using at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show on the Gold Coast, Australia. The posters are A1 size and printed onto a decent quality poster paper. At the moment we can print posters up to 650mm wide however in the near future we will be able to print up to 1500mm wide. Today we printed a custom sticker for the workshop bar, we used a high adhesive vinyl and stuck it upside down directly onto unsealed MDF. We found a variety of blues pictures and made a collage with them, it was then printed onto high adhesive vinyl and laminated. We then applied to the underneath of the bulkhead we’ve built for the workshop bar. It worked so well, that we’ll extend it around the rest of the underneath of the bulkhead. This is sign of my favourite guitar brand – Gibson, I made it by reverse printing a sticker onto clear vinyl and back laminating with white vinyl, it was then applied to 4mm clear acrylic and laser cut, a piece of 4mm black acrylic was laser cut and attached to the back of the sign.
I now have access to a 2400mm x 1200mm laser cutter, if you require laser cutting work, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
