Even though we have moved into digital printing, we still sell lots of vinyl cut decals. For those that aren’t sure what these are – they are stickers that are cut from a solid colour adhesive vinyl roll and have no background. We load our sticker cutting machine with the desired coloured vinyl and using a special software program which tells the machine where to cut, the machine drops a tiny knife into the vinyl and cuts the design (the adhesive vinyl is on a wax coated paper which the knife doesn’t cut through).
We then take the cut vinyl from the machine and ‘weed’ it by hand, weeding means using a picker (like a needle point) and removing the unwanted cut parts from the vinyl. Because all these cut bits become separate after cutting, it would be painful if not impossible to apply each bit of sticker to the surface you want to apply it to without having application paper over the top. Application tape is applied over the top of the sticker after it is weeded and keeps all the pieces as one so the sticker can be applied easily.
The process is removing the application tape along with the sticker from the backing paper and then applying it to desired surface, once the sticker is applied the application tape is removed leaving just the sticker ‘bits’.
Vinyl cut decals still have a massive use around the world and can be seen just about everywhere from car signage to shop signage, on boats, trains, planes, bicycles, equipment, walls and many other thousands of surfaces and applications.
They can be used as small decals on a musical instrument up to and exceeding massive multi coloured shop signage.
They look great as fun stickers on cars as well and when used as lettering to get a message across are highly effective.
We have many colours in stock and have access to many specialty colours.
Our equipment is precise so your sticker will look great, we use quality European vinyls which last for years and won’t fail under the extreme Australian Conditions. We can custom make your signs and stickers using vinyl cut stickers and where extra detail is needed, we can print for example intricate design and complex shadowing and gradients.
